1. Arrival and departure status

A geofence around a stop turns a stream of coordinates into two timestamps: arrived and departed. Those two events are what dispatch, the customer portal, and the invoice all key off. Everything else in this list is downstream of getting them right.

2. Dwell and detention

Detention is the most commonly under-billed accessorial in trucking, because it depends on remembering to record a wait that happened days earlier. Derived arrival and departure times make it automatic: the system knows the truck was there for three hours and can flag the load for review before the invoice goes out.

3. Proof of delivery support

A signed POD says the freight arrived. A timestamped position attached to the same order says when, and where. When a customer disputes a delivery window, the combination is considerably harder to argue with than either alone.

4. Equipment location for planning

Knowing which trailers are empty and where they sit changes what dispatch can commit to. This is the use case that needs asset hardware rather than driver-app position, because the trailers in question are by definition not attached to a driver.
