Telematics
Telematics is the broader category. GPS tracking is the location slice. ELDs, cameras, and engine data are other slices.
Definition
Telematics originally meant telecommunications plus informatics. In trucking it now names the stack that connects vehicles and assets to a back office: location, sometimes engine diagnostics, cameras, ELD logs, and maintenance. Motive and Samsara sell broad telematics platforms. A location-only tracker is a narrower product.
